On January 10, 2025, Zhao Mingnan, Chief Engineer of China Automotive Carbon (Beijing) Digital Technology Center Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "China Automotive Carbon Digital"), and his team met with Ma Cunzhen, General Manager of the Nonferrous Metals Technology and Economic Research Institute Co., Ltd. and Director of the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association Green Product Evaluation Center (hereinafter referred to as the "Evaluation Center"), and his team in Beijing to discuss the implementation of the "Automotive - Nonferrous Metals Supply Chain Collaborative Carbon Reduction Plan."

Both parties pointed out that there are currently issues such as opaque carbon footprint data and mismatched low-carbon supply and demand between domestic vehicle manufacturers and material companies, which pose many challenges to collaborative carbon reduction in the automotive supply chain and slow down the progress of green and low-carbon transformation. Only by integrating the advantages of both sides and deepening cooperation can the implementation of the "Automotive - Nonferrous Metals Supply Chain Collaborative Carbon Reduction Plan" be promoted, achieving coordinated carbon reduction between upstream and downstream of the automotive supply chain and supporting the green development of the industry.

In the future, the two sides will cooperate on the pilot calculation of carbon footprints for automotive aluminum products, guidelines for low-carbon material procurement, and low-carbon supplier ratings. The Evaluation Center will provide important support in these areas. During the cooperation process, data recognition will be carried out through the China Aluminum Industry Product Carbon Footprint Calculation Platform (ALCFP) and the China Industrial Carbon Emission Information System (CICES). Carbon footprint data and certified green electricity aluminum and green low-carbon aluminum products will serve as important references and bases for the guidelines for low-carbon material procurement and low-carbon supplier ratings.

This cooperation marks the deep integration of the automotive industry and the nonferrous metals sector in green and low-carbon development. Both sides will continue to promote mutual recognition of carbon emission data and the construction of low-carbon supply chains through digital means to achieve carbon reduction goals.
