SEA LCA Intro

The Sino-European Automotive Carbon Footprint Mutual Recognition Research Working Group (hereinafter referred to as “SEA LCA”) was jointly established in December 2024 by China Automotive Carbon Digital Technology Center Co., Ltd. and Green NCAP. It is dedicated to promoting coordinated development and mutual recognition in the field of automotive life cycle assessment (LCA) between China and Europe.
SEA LCA brings together leading research institutions, technical platforms, and major automotive manufacturers from both regions, with current members including C-GCAP, DEKRA, Chery, Changan, and NIO.
By introducing the innovative mechanism of “single caculation, multiple recognition,” SEA LCA carries out in-depth technical alignment on LCA based on real vehicle cases. It focuses on key topics such as methodological alignment, data mutual trust, and equivalent verification, aiming to build a unified, transparent, and internationally applicable mutual recognition framework for automotive carbon footprints.
SEA LCA serves as a practical platform for promoting green trade and regulatory compliance between China and Europe. It supports enterprises in their green globalization efforts and helps reduce the cost and burden of redundant cross-border calculations and certifications.
As a globally oriented cooperation platform, SEA LCA takes the China-Europe partnership as a starting point to jointly advance the international harmonization of automotive carbon footprint management systems, contributing a “China-Europe solution” to global low-carbon governance.
